Brutalism in Ireland

Ireland's brutalist heritage is small but includes a building of international rank: the Berkeley Library Trinity College (1967) in Dublin, designed by Paul Koralek of Ahrends, Burton and Koralek after a famous open competition. Its board-marked concrete and granite mass is widely considered among the finest postwar buildings in Ireland. The 1960s and 1970s also gave Dublin and the universities a scatter of concrete civic and academic architecture, much of it now protected as the period's reputation has recovered.
